Equivalent framework for non UK BSE qualifications

Via an arrangement with sector skills council SummitSkills, B&ES members have free access to a migrant workers equivalence framework that enables employers to compare the building services engineering qualifications held by foreign workers with recognised UK qualifications, and so assess the level of skill attained by individuals and the additional training they may require. Previously this was a service provided at a cost by UK NARIC.

The primary aims of the framework are:

  • To provide a simple but robust means of allowing employers and/or holders of non-UK building services engineering qualifications to identify sectoral requirements for the achievement of equivalent occupational status; and
  • To provide a mechanism through which employers and individuals can access sector requirements for training, assessment and competence recognition.

The framework focuses upon skilled worker occupations and includes the following occupational areas:

  • Installation Electrician
  • Ductwork Planning and Installation
  • Industrial and Commercial Installation
  • Industrial and Commercial Commissioning
  • Industrial and Commercial Service and Maintenance
  • Domestic Heating Installer
  • Plumber
  • Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Installation, Commissioning, Service and Maintenance.

Initially, the scope of the framework is ten countries which have been identified and as the priority countries, for more information on the countries covered, please visit the website on the link provided above, or click here.

Access is available, free of charge to all B&ES members. However, if you wish to access the site, and you are not a membr of B&ES it is available on a fee paying basis.

To access the website free of charge, please contact Rachel Forey on: 02073134934 and you will be provided with a user name and password.
