Our strategy

Led by the B&ES Education Committee, the Education and Training Department has developed a Business Plan which highlights the key skills areas they will address over the next three years.

The plan focuses on four key areas:

To position B&ES and its members as representing the best in Building Services Engineering by:

  • Actively promote as examples of industry best practice relevant E&T activities, policies, products and services developed by the B&ES or undertaken by its members.
  • Actively promote ES SKILLcard to key groups to encourage take up of new and existing cards and recognition of ES SKILLcard standards by Government, industry and other key influencers.

To ensure that B&ES offers high quality services that adds value for its members by:

  • Developing a range of B&ES Education and Training qualifications, standards and products that will enhance services available to members and attract funding where possible.
  • Engaging with training bodies, in particular BEST, to maximise the benefit offered to Members in terms of supporting the development of apprentices and other industry recognised trainees.
  • Using the Growth and Innovation Fund, develop an HVACR Training Fund to best serve the strategic training needs of the B&ES membership, lending support to B&ES leadership position in promoting B&ES standards.

To ensure that B&ES positively influences the technical, commercial, training and industrial relations environment in which its members operate by

  • Ensuring the effective provision of industry-recognised training, qualifications and apprenticeships in support of the B&ES membership base, maintaining access to funding where appropriate..

We aim to achieve growth in the membership base and the commercial businesses by:

  • Developing a proposition to increase B&ES’s market share of ES SKILLcard Health & Safety assessments.
  • Achieving 3% per annum growth in the number of training man days spent on short courses run by the E&T department.

Our plans

The B&ES Education and Training Department is always working on a number of different projects for several stakeholders.

We produce a regular update detailing the projects we are working on, the objectives of that project, who the project manager is and our progress to date.

Look out for the latest update coming soon.
