CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Deadline: Monday 1 August 2011

The SummitSkills Awards for Excellence are designed to celebrate outstanding achievement on the part of craft, technical and professional engineers across the mechanical and electrical services sector.

Presentation of these prestigious awards will take place during the WorldSkills event in London on Friday 7 October.

Among the categories included in the Awards for Excellence are four which are sponsored by the HVCA, which focus in particular upon aspects of personal development – and for which nominations are now being sought.

The ALFRED MANLY MANAGEMENT AWARD aims to recognise the achievement of young engineers who have been judged capable of progressing to a senior management role within building services engineering.

Candidates must have completed a course leading to a degree, foundation degree, Higher National Diploma or Higher National Certificate, and must already be employed in a junior or middle management position.

The award will assist the successful candidate in identifying his/her management development needs and in achieving his/her full potential through the provision of appropriate management training.

The HAPPOLD BURSARY is awarded annually to a craftsperson with a level 3 National or Scottish Vocational Qualification and a minimum of three years’ post-apprenticeship/traineeship experience in heating ventilating, air conditioning and/or refrigeration.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability and maturity required to progress in his/her career, and will be perceived by his/her employer to be ready to move into a supervisory role.

The PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER OF THE YEAR – ANN NOBLETT SCHOLARSHIP recognises outstanding achievement by an individual within the sector who has successfully completed a course leading to a degree, foundation degree, Higher National Diploma or Higher National Certificate.

The scholarship is designed to assist those currently working towards membership of an appropriate chartered or professional body to achieve such enhanced status.

The EXPERIENCED EXISTING WORKER OF THE YEAR AWARD (MECHANICAL) marks the achievement of existing workers with an established development record who have returned to study and thus gained a professional qualification to underpin their practical experience.

It is open to individuals employed in all mechanical disciplines who have achieved a Level 2 or 3 National or Scottish Vocational Qualification, or have carried out significant professional development.

Nomination forms for the Existing Worker of the Year Award are downloadable from the SummitSkills website at www.summitskills.org.uk.
