The HVCA works in partnership with a number of other industry bodies. Below is a brief explanation about each and a link to their websites.
SummitSkills is the Sector Skills Council for the building services engineering sector. We work closely with them to ensure employers are at the heart of influencing strategic planning relating to skills and training, and the development of industry qualifications and frameworks.
Engineering Services SKILLcard is the industry-recognised card issuing and personnel registration scheme for people working in the mechanical sector of the building services engineering industry. The HVCA provides advice and guidance on the attainment of a relevant skillcard as well as providing courses to ensure employees have the relevant competencies.
BESCA provides Competent Person and Energy Assessor Certification Schemes for the building services industry It is an independent national assessment and certification body owned by the HVCA and as such we work closely to provide advice and guidance on the latest regulations as well as providing courses which deliver the skills which underpin each of the relevant schemes aid
Through our subsidiary company PIPER Assessment we are able to offer a comprehensive range of assessment and training programmes for the gas, plumbing, heating & ventilation, oil and electrical sectors, which ensures organisations stay abreast of changes to regulations or are aware of new legislation.
Our other subsidiary company BEST (Building Engineering Services Training) is a leading UK training provider for the sector, covering heating and ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing and electro-technical industries. Since 1990 BEST has successfully managed the training of over 7,000 apprentices and introduced them as skilled personnel into the building services industry.
BSRIA is the leading engineering, technical and market research organisation providing independent, objective and practical help in design, construction and occupancy of the built environment. The HVCA co-operates with BSRIA to provide advice, research and guidance to promote energy and water efficiency, best practice in construction and effective operation of buildings as well as offering a range of courses on these topics.
We also work closely with our qualification awarding bodies EAL and City & Guilds to ensure that all courses and qualifications we develop can be accredited against a recognised framework of competence.
